MANAGEMENT PLAN FISHER CONSULTATION

A consultation with fishers from both St.Kitts and Nevis was held on January 19th, 2017, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Franklin Brown Community Centre in Nevis. The focus of the meeting was to discuss aspects of the management plan for the Fishing Priority Area in the Narrows to be completed.

The Nevis Historical and Conservation Society through the ECMMAN CAMPAM Small Grant Proposal has hired Mr. Audra Barrate, local consultant and Dr William Heyman, international consultant to produce a Community Based Management Plan Fishing Priority Area in the Narrows and a Management Framework for Fishing Priorities Areas for St.Kitts and Nevis.

This consultation included a welcome by Mr. Audra Barrate, a summary of the ECMMAN Project by Mrs. Janice Hodge – ECMMAN In country Project Coordinator, brief remarks were given by Ms. Tricia Greaux -Department of Marine Resources, Dr. William Heyman did a presentation of findings and facilitated a question and answer segment, closing remarks was provided by Ms. Danielle Moore- ECMMAN Outreach Officer.
